Our traditional delivery model consists of placing an Occupational Therapist and Coach into a leisure centre to make reasonable adjustments and break down barriers so that anyone can participate in sport and physical activity.
We utilise sport and physical activity to have a positive impact on people’s lives and to enable occupational outcomes through inclusive opportunities.
An Occupational Therapist's role is to help people of all ages overcome the effects of disability caused by illness, ageing or accident so that they can carry out everyday tasks or occupations. This requires consideration of all of the person’s needs - physical, psychological, social and environmental. Delivering this support in a mainstream environment in partnership with the leisure centre workforce can make a real difference giving people a renewed sense of purpose, belonging, opening up new horizons, changing the way they feel about the future and providing a safe place to which they return.
Supporting the inactive population to become active.
