Sport for Confidence are delighted to have been announced as a finalist in two categories of the Occupational Therapists Excellence Awards.

Open to any individual occupational therapist or organisation delivering occupational therapy services, the prestigious professional awards identify and celebrate outstanding achievement across a number of areas including innovation, emerging areas of practice, products and services, research and technology.

Sport for Confidence has been announced as a finalist in two fiercely contested award categories. Firstly, the ‘Excellence in Emerging Role’ award for Sport for Confidence’s delivery of occupational therapy driven services within a community sport and leisure setting and secondly, the ‘Most Innovative Use of Practice’ award for partnership working with Essex Country Council to deliver a two-year test and learn pilot that measured the positive impact of embedding physical activity into a whole system approach to adult health and social care.

Speaking of the award, Lisa Westhorpe, Occupational Therapist and National Team Lead at Sport for Confidence, says: “To have been recognised as a finalist by these professional awards is amazing. Whilst we do not take anything for granted, we are now excited to be heading towards the winner announcements in July. At Sport for Confidence, we work incredibly hard to mobilise occupational therapists, extending their reach and influence beyond the traditional, clinical setting. We break down barriers to ensuring people with a disability and/or long-term health condition can access the services they need, when they need them, tackling the growing health inequality gap and empowering everyone to thrive.”

Award winners will be announced at an awards ceremony hosted by the National Conference Centre, Bickenhill, West Midlands.
