Sport for Confidence Celebrates 10 Years!

This summer, Sport for Confidence CIC proudly celebrates 10 years of working across systems to break down barriers, challenge inequality, and embed inclusive access to physical activity in everyday life.
Founded in 2015, Sport for Confidence was created to bring together the expertise of occupational therapists, the physical activity workforce, and individuals with lived experience to tackle the persistent inequalities in access to physical activity and sport. From the outset, our vision has been to narrow the gap in occupational, health, and social outcomes by embedding inclusive, person-centred practice into local systems and everyday community life.

We've worked within and alongside health, care, and community systems to demonstrate that physical activity can be a powerful tool for prevention, inclusion and occupational justice—supporting people to live with greater autonomy, wellbeing and connection.

“This milestone is a moment to recognise all those who’ve helped shape this journey—our teams, participants, and partners. But it’s also a reminder that the work continues. There is still much to do to close the outcomes gap and create systems where everyone can thrive through movement.”
— Lyndsey Barrett, Co-CEO & Lead Occupational Therapist

Throughout the summer, Sport for Confidence sites across the UK will be marking this milestone in creative ways, shaped by the voices of the communities we work alongside. From reflective storytelling and themed sessions to staff-led initiatives and community moments, each celebration reflects our commitment to our values.

While we’re proud of how far we’ve come, we know there is more to do. We remain committed to working in partnership to create services and systems that are equitable, responsive, and rooted in lived experience.

We will continue to focus on what is important to us - a person first, occupation-focused, and systems-driven approach, showing how sport and physical activity can transform lives and communities.

Help us mark this milestone and shape what comes next. Whether you're a participant, practitioner, policymaker, or partner—your role matters.
