During lockdown, our Occupational Therapist, Deb Bullen was commissioned by Active Essex to run two webinars aimed at helping community service providers to manage conversations with those they support around the importance of maintaining an active lifestyle.
Deb explains: “In a national Coronavirus briefing on April 15, Chris Whitty, Chief Medical Advisor, said: “There is no situation, there is no age and no condition where exercise is not a good thing.” This backs up everything we know and believe in at Sport For Confidence so I was very keen to work with Active Essex to encourage as many people as possible to maintain activity levels during lockdown. The webinars were designed to help those who support others to initiative and manage conversations around the importance of an active lifestyle. Content was based around how to establish a person’s current activity levels, motivations, activity preferences etc and then gave advise on how to apply this information to encourage activity and also to signpost to other support services.”
For those who missed the webinars but are interested in understanding the content covered, we also provided an information sheet, available here. If you would like to listen to the webinar, a recording is available via the Active Essex website, click here.
