Sport for Confidence

Sport for Confidence is a unique and pioneering organisation which supports people who face barriers to participation, enabling individuals to get involved in a variety of sporting activities in mainstream settings.

We are the only provider in Essex who offers a partnership between leisure centres and local sports clubs and which sees Allied Health Professionals working directly with sports coaches and instructors to make appropriate adjustments in order to create truly accessible sport and leisure opportunities for all regardless of perceived barriers.

We are looking for a passionate and innovative Allied Health Professional to join our small and dedicated team to lead the implementation at two new sites in Clacton and Colchester. This presence in North Essex has been requested by Essex County Council following our successful operation in Basildon and other sites across Essex.

You will ensure the effective delivery of a variety of sport sessions during which you will use your professional expertise to create the right environment for client benefit. You will mentor and advise Sport for Confidence coaches to ensure they modify their approach and behaviours to be fully inclusive. You will oversee the appropriate training of sport and leisure centre operational staff, whilst managing key relationships with leisure centre management, clients and carers.  You will also use your communication skills to build sustainable collaborative partnerships with local learning disabilities and mental health teams and develop outcome measures relevant to health and wellbeing.

If you are an Allied Health Professional with a passion for, and understanding of, the benefits sport can bring to health then this could be the ideal role for you! This is a unparalled opportunity to be part of a growing organisation offering a truly original solution for which you will need excellent communication skills and a desire to make sport and leisure activities more accessible for all.
